I'm on Facebook a lot and forget about blogging. I had started this with having in mind sort of a journal. It was around 100 degrees today and is now around 80 degrees at 8:43 p.m. It's amazing.

Not sure what tomorrow will bring. We did get to Blythe, California this morning for fruit. I have pseudo-gout, brought on by having to take Atenolol instead of my better blood pressure medication. I saw a FNP in Quartzsite and she wrote me a prescription for Nadolol and things should improve. My big toe is very sore at this point, and I did too much walking in K-Mart.

Snowbirds are slowly returning and that's great. I love seeing them come back. I'm still feeding 5 or 6 cottontail bunnies (one of them - Desi - of course I named them - eats from a cup and seems fairly tame). It's fun to do.

October 1st 2009 - Wow! Where did September go???? Our fall weather has arrived. 50's at night and 90's in the daytime. Wonderful climate. I love it. Our "snowbirds" are coming back and there will finally be traffic on our streets again. I'm looking forward to seeing friends coming back. We have really missed the Christian friends. Our church has been fairly active through the summer and that's been great. Small congregation but enjoyable. We will go from around 25 people in the congregation to around 200 or more. I love it.

Will plan a couple of trips for later. Probably Thanksgiving and Christmas. Next summer, may try a trip to eastern U.S. and Canada. Depends on finances and God's plans for us.

Second day on "virtual med". Doing OK. Will be playing piano for both Sunday services. Practice, practice, practice!!!! Hope the Lord sends someone soon that can play like Sharon does. She's amazing. I can't do the transposing that needs to be done sometimes.

Lap Quilt now has all three sections pinned together. My friend, Alice, will probably quilt it for me. Then we will move on to another project. It's so exciting.

Every day still over 100 degrees, but sometimes cooling to 70's at night. That's a plus. I love Quartzsite.

Saturday, September 12, 2009

It's Saturday morning around 10:15 a.m. All the Quartzsite streets have been re-opened, but still need some work. We went to Yuma and Los Algodones, Mexico yesterday. There was road work going on for Hwy 95. The water had eroded the sides in some of the dips. Didn't take long to get through in Mexico. Picked up meds and there was no line at this time of the year. However, the medication I usually get is no longer available. Had to substitute and have taken this medication before - not as effective. I think the first med was bought by a big pharmaceutical firm and then taken off the market so they could sell more of their stuff. Not a great thing. The med I got yesterday certainly was a lot cheaper. Hopefully, in combination with Zip Fizz, it will keep the blood pressure down. We'll see. I'll use the extra money for quilting supplies.

monsoon rains - Sept 7th, 2009

Amazing to watch the "washes" of the desert fill up and wash across roads. A few will need repair before they can be opened again. I have never seen anything like it. This was amazing.
I'll post pictures.

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Mike finished the canopy today. It's gorgeous. It was HOT but he did it anyway.
I'll post pictures.

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Storm last night - lightning, thunder, rain. It kept up from around midnight to around 4 a.m. Lost the power for a while. Today I hope to take pictures of "washes" with water in them. We didn't get much sleep so maybe a nap later.

Friday, August 28, 2009

It's Friday and that feels great. I spent an hour practicing piano at church this morning. Our regular pianist is on vacation and I will be playing at church on Sunday morning. I was quite rusty but it's coming back to me.

I have found 4 more of my grandchildren on facebook and am really enjoying keeping in touch with them. It's a great way to let them know I love and miss them. They live on Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, Canada. Hope to get back there again some day.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

It's around 2:30 p.m. Had an eye infection this past week. Will not be returning to the eye doctor I saw in Phoenix. They did everything but deal with the problem, including tests that probably weren't necessary. Now I know why Medicare & secondary insurances have high premiums. Will find a local ophthalmologist instead.

Hot - around 111 degrees today. Very dry. Need rain, whatever that is.

Saturday, August 15, 2009

It's around 105 degrees and just bright sunshine. I love it. Last night, after I put out bird seed, a lone road runner showed up - a small one. He looked kind of lost. The doves and small desert wrens didn't run him off. The bigger doves can be aggressive. The quail came much later. They are a pain at times.

Middle of August already. Time flies. Probably won't get to Mexico for another 6 weeks or so. Next trip is to Yuma.

Saturday, August 8, 2009

Saturday Evening. Still enjoying quilting. I have water aerobics tonight and the water will feel great. Wish I could swim, but maybe I will learn eventually. Enjoyed a trip to Parker this morning - Wal-Mart run. We ate breakfast at Coffee Ern's. Great food. Looking forward to Sunday tomorrow, but also sorry that we will be missing the Knox Brothers Concert in McMinnville, OR.

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

It's Wednesday and quiet. It's a library day and also a post office run. The 4th part of the canopy has been started. We have set the thermostat for 85 degrees inside the motorhome. Otherwise the power bill climbs to $300 +. It's comfortable. Wouldn't want to do spring cleaning at this temperature.

Saturday, August 1, 2009

It's been an interesting day. Mike went to Lake Havasu City and I stayed home and did laundry and kept up with the cat. She was restless today for some reason. Mike drove the motorhome out from under the canopy to make sure he could. It just squeezes by. We won't have to do anything to the canopy to leave for a trip.

Wednesday, July 29th

Well, it's off to Phoenix for an eye appointment and to see our friends, the Browns, in Mesa.

Lazy day today

It's on its way to 115 degrees. Good day to kick back and watch movies. Bible Study later today and then Water Aerobics. Have lost 7 pounds. Feels great.

Quiet Monday

Laundry day and catching up on Facebook. Not much going on today.

Sunday, July 26, 2009

Sunday morning

Already 100 degrees +, and heading for 116 degrees. Love it!!! Fourth part of canopy started yesterday. Both bedroom windows now have desert screen off. Feels much brighter inside motorhome.

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Had to go to Yuma again for parts. Nice "road trip" though. We could see where the washes had gone across the road in certain places after the heavy rain to the East of us. All the water seems to flow towards the Colorado River. Nice easy Saturday.

Friday, July 24th

Went to Lake Havasu City today to pick up Minette's food. It was cloudy with some clear skies here and there. It did rain on us a couple of times. The washes didn't have any water in them though. The warnings were for La Paz Valley South. The cloud formations are always beautiful in the desert.

Enjoying review of I Corinthians. Love the way Paul puts things in perspective.

Thursday, July 23rd

Enjoyed another quilting lesson from my friend, Alice, today. Managed to finish some 9-block squares and will enjoy finishing this project of a lap quilt. It's actually 40 x 48. Enjoyed water aerobics at my friend's house (Sharon), and the exercises are relaxing and very beneficial. I love it.

Wednesday, July 22

We had a great lightning storm in our area for about an hour in early morning. No rain though. Then later, there were a few drops, but everything is pretty much dry already and it's MUGGY. Very unusual for our part of Arizona. Our canopy stayed up through the gusty winds a couple of days ago too. Praise the Lord for that.

Monday, July 20, 2009

Monday July 20th, 2009

Went to Yuma this morning to get more supplies for the canopy. It was definitely hot down there, around 110 degrees. We got home to 112 degrees. We have what looks like huge thunder clouds. We may get a light show later.

Sunday 07/19/09

I absolutely love Sundays. It's my favorite day. We love our church family.
It's a tad hot again, but "hey", this is where we are supposed to be, so we are comfortable with the heat. I'm hoping for a warm winter already.

lazy day

It's going to be HOT today and it makes for a lazy day of staying at home in the airconditioning and reading. Love it.

Parker's New Wal-Mart

Not one of the largest, but nice. It's 110 degrees, heading for 117 degrees today. Love it. Library next.

Thursday, July 16, 2009

clouds

When we were having a picnic in the desert, we saw a cloud that reminded me of the "Q" on "Q" mountain near Quartzsite. Hope I can attach a picture to the site.

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

warm day in the desert

It's around 95 degrees and heading for 116 degrees. The new Super Wal-Mart is opening up its doors today in Parker, Arizona.

fun times with friends

Had great time over potluck and singing tonight in the home where we meet for bible study.
Great time.

Monday, July 13, 2009

facebook friends

I am amazed at how many people I know do Facebook. It's a great way to keep in touch. I'm still fairly new at it, but I'm learning.

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Sunday a.m.

Had great time at church today. Good sermon. The brunch was delicious. Good fellowship.

Saturday, July 11, 2009

canopy2

First two sections of the canopy now up. A couple more to go. I really like the green canopy. The other was an orangish color and I'm not sure I would have wanted that much of that color.

Monday, July 6, 2009

Canopy

Canopy for over the motorhome, truck and shop almost ready to put up. Will look great

Summer temperatures

It's 100 degrees at 10:20 a.m. On to 113 degrees. I love it.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

sewing

This will be new for me. I'm starting quilting lessons tomorrow. Can't wait.

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

June 30th, 2009

It's hot today, around 107 degrees now. A quick trip to Yuma was great. Bought materials to work on the canopy structure that will go over the RV, shed and truck. I'm looking forward to the shade. Love this area though.

Jewels from the Joy Bus - June 23rd, 2009

This is my first attempt at this. We'll see how it goes. It will be 107 degrees here today and that's HOT. We love it.
